We are seeking a dedicated and autonomous General Practitioner to join our friendly rural practice in Fleggburgh. On designated working days, you will act as the sole GP on site, providing comprehensive primary care services to our patient population.

Clinical sessions

The Educational Lead GP role is a hybrid of Lead GP clinical sessions with protected time to oversee the management and development of the Training Hub.

Lead GPs take a key role in being a visible lead to the clinical team to enable the provision of high quality and patient-centred clinical care within the surgeries. The appointment template varies at the different surgeries, but all GPs are expected to provide care for urgent and routine consultations through a mix of face to face consultations, telephone consultations, visits and sharing in the work of the duty team. Clinical sessions should take place at the surgery unless there are exceptional circumstances. Lead GPs will be responsible for a fair share distribution of admin (be this related to their list or where it is distributed equally amongst those present) and will carry a patient list size pro rata for the number of sessions they are working.

Clinical leadership/quality improvement session

Job responsibilities

Cover the geographical area overseen by the Medical Education Department that is, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust and to develop appropriate links working in partnership with Newcastle Medical School, Sunderland Medical School and any other medical schools commissioning placements within the Trust, HEE NE, Tees and Esk Wear Valley NHS Trust, local general practitioners and Commissioners.

(POST 2)To ensure the provision of a high quality, effective Specialty Training Programmes across County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust, providing high-quality administrative support, to meet national and local initiatives, including specific training programmes and educational opportunities for basic and higher specialty training for resident doctors.

In conjunction with the Specialty Tutors and the Medical Education Manager, support the Care Groups in the review of specialty rotations, introducing quality assurance of educational opportunities, managing induction courses and ensuring that local and departmental induction takes place for all resident doctors in line with HEE NE guidelines and Trust policy.

Ensure that QA processes for GMC Visits, Deanery QA and College Accreditation are robust and recorded in line with Deanery and Trust directives, regularly assessing the standards and making recommendations as appropriate, as well as supporting Quality Assurance visits.

Ensure systems are in place to ensure the delivery of mandatory Trust Induction and training for all resident doctors and non-foundation doctors as they rotate, in line with Trust, HEE NE, GMC and CQC objectives.

Work closely with rota co-ordinators and the Lead Employer Trust and ensure rotas for DiT are compliant and planned/published to agreed publication deadlines to comply with the Resident Doctors Contract (2016).

Ensure systems are in place to maintain and construct compliant rotas for DiT with Care Groups following the correct protocols. Escalate issues when and suggest solutions to address identified issues. Producing data analysis where required.

Ensure the co-ordination of DiT vacancies whilst understanding the implications for rota compliance and the complexities of the various Resident Doctor rotations, to ensure that gaps are identified and appropriate escalation is taken to minimise the effect on the service, rota compliance and experience of DiT on placement.

Co-ordinate the implementation of effective systems and processes for the re validation of resident doctors in Training, as directed by the Medical Education Manager.

Ensure that there are effective mechanisms in place for the dissemination and feedback of information, promoting quality within all areas of Medical Education, developing relationships between the department and DiT, Trainers and Care Groups.

Oversee the administration management of the Clinical Skills Centre in conjunction with the Senior Nurse for Simulation and Clinical Simulation Technician.

Co-ordinate the quality systems with the objective of ensuring the continual improvement of service effectiveness and that Medical Education meets regulatory and accreditation requirements at all times.

To work with lead tutors to ensure trainers are well briefed on the relevant curriculum and Reference Guide requirements so that all posts provide high-quality experience that meets HEE and GMC standards.

Manage and oversee the administration systems for resident doctors study leave, ensuring that a Trust-wide system is robust and efficient across the Trust, recording appropriately.

Ensure own actions promote quality and best practice at all times, including in the field of IT Security and Data Protection. Support the Equality and Diversity needs of all Trust staff.

In conjunction with the Medical Education Manager, develop effective partnerships with all internal and external stakeholders. Promote and recruit to appropriate programmes.

Formulate policies for discussion with senior colleagues for implementation across the organisation.
