An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP) in the South Staffordshire locality.

The Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service provides assessment, formulation, and treatment to individuals between the ages of 14-65 experiencing a first episode psychosis (FEP) or an at risk mental state (ARMS). Within EIP we take a team around the client approach, working collectively to provide a tailored multidisciplinary package of support that champions the role of psychosocial interventions to reduce distress and promote social/occupational functioning and wellbeing. As such, the successful candidate will demonstrate the principles of recovery in practice, ensuring the care we deliver is respectful and meaningful to each client and reflects the individual experience. Alongside specific supervised low intensity psychological interventions with individuals and groups, the role also entails supporting the work of the team as a whole and a degree of flexibility and initiative is expected.

The team covers the whole of South Staffordshire, with bases in four major areas - Cannock, Stafford, Lichfield and Burton. Travel across the patch is a requirement of this role, and work may take place within bases, people's homes, and other community locations. This role is not suitable for home-working.

Main duties of the job

• To support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users by assisting qualified practitioners in the delivery and evaluation of cost-effective services that meet Trust and Directorate objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements, and user and carer needs and expectations.
• To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions including group work, under the close supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with the Practitioner Psychologist and within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.
• To work with inpatients, outpatients and staff of the South Staffordshire Mental Health Services.
• To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

The post-holder will provide assessments and interventions in the CAMHS Early Years' (CAMHS EY) Service to pre-school children meeting service criteria. This role will offer a service across the district and can be based at either Cross Street in Burton or The Bridge in Stafford and will include working across the South Staffordshire area, as required.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to a thorough assessment of children referred to the service.

To provide specialist assessment and interventions for young children with emotional or behaviour problems referred to the service.,

To identify the nature, severity and complexity of children's presenting and developing mental health problems.

To be alert to possible physical health presentations and to give advice or signpost as appropriate, within professional practice guidelines.

To formulate and implement plans for intervention within the scope of professional practice guidelines.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility, within professional practice guidelines and subject to experiences.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients.

To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of patients and monitor progress during their treatment within the services.

To manage a caseload effectively and to maintain adequate records of clinical work in accordance with Trust and Service standards.

To work with clients to develop a joint understanding of their problems and support those in accessing appropriate interventions using shared decision making.

To inform service users about additional support that may be appropriate. Where appropriate, to make referrals to appropriate agencies in consultation and communication with the client's GP and to liaise as appropriate with those agencies.

Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Community Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join the Stafford Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) based in Stafford.

This role is part of a functionalised model in which patients requiring inpatient care, crisis or home treatment have their care temporarily transferred to the relevant pathway.

You will provide leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure and offering support and supervision as required to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Non-Medical Prescribers.

You may be responsible to supervise a trainee and there are also opportunities available in the Trust to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education for Junior Doctors and medical students from Keele Medical School

You will hold acaseload of approximately 90 of which many will have other clinicians in the IMHT working with them. The team is made up of 2.6wte Psychiatrists, 1.0 Advanced Clinical Practitioner, 6.8wte Nurses, 2.0 Nursing Associate, 1.8wte Occupational Therapists, 2.0wte Psychologists, 2.0wte Psychological Therapist, 2.0 Clinical Associate in Psychology, 4.0wte Healthcare Support Workers 0.8 Peer Recovery Worker and 1 Team Manager.

All Consultant Psychiatrists are supported in developing their ways of working within the MPFT Living Our Values Framework.

You will take part in out of hours duties; on call work is remunerated at 3% as well as 0.25 APAs.

Main duties of the job

As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide medical leadership within a collective leadership model.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

• Ensure, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, regular effective review of the care of patients in the clinical pathway - via individual assessments and follow up appointments, MDT meetings and sometimes the Care Programme Approach (CPA) review, particularly where the complexity requires it.
• Be the Responsible Clinician for service users in the pathway who are subject to Community Treatment Order (CTO) where applicable
• Provide evidence based care
• Be recovery focused
• Provide cross-cover (emergency and prospective) for other Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues by mutual agreement
• Communicate with all key partners in an appropriate and timely way including service users, carers and General Practitioners.
• Comply with all Trust policies and the Living Our Values Framework.
