Job summary

West Leeds Family Practice is a forward thinking professional organisation, we have an opportunity for the right candidate to join our outstanding GP Practice. We are a high achieving QOF Practice.
We have 20,000 patients and a large team of GP's Nurses HCA and administration.
We are a Training Practice for both GP Registrars and Leeds University Medical Students.
We operate an online triage model for patients requesting appointments. The successful candidates will be given full training in care navigation and working alongside GPs to triage patients according to need. You will be an integral member of the team and, whilst working predominately on 1 site you will be expected to work across all sites according to need. We value our staff and offer opportunities for training, staff social events and close working with the wider practices in Pudsey
Main duties of the job
Administration
- Scanning documents in medical records including coding
- Send template letters as requested
- Process internal tasks created by practice team
- Process incoming and outgoing emails
- Contact other health professionals
- Process records for patients joining or leaving the practice
- Uploading/filing notes
- Maintain patient records
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
Reception
- Greeting and managing patients
- Consulting with members of practice team
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts
- Handling and processing requests for prescriptions with patients and pharmacies
- Registrations of new patients.
- Process changes in patient details (have knowledge of practice area).
Appointments
- Support patients in navigating care toward the practice and within NHS appointed service providers
- Process appointment booking and
- cancellation requests
- Deal with visits requests
- Process e-consultations
- Capturing information relevant to the nature of the booking and recording against the relevant booking

Salaried GP - 6 months Maternity Cover
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and flexible salaried GP to provide maternity cover 4 sessions Thursday and Friday each week for 6 months, ideally commencing November but dates can be flexible
The practice is based over 3 sites all close to each other. Our supportive team are well established, friendly, hardworking and dedicated to providing a good experience for the patient and a pleasant working environment. The opportunity is available to both newly qualified and experienced GPs who want to work in a forward thinking training practice. We are continuously looking to improve what we do and value innovative and new ways of working.
Main duties of the job
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
