Job summary
We are looking to employ a Salaried GP, working between 6 to 8 sessions.
If you are looking to work alongside a strong, supportive team that puts people first, with a commitment to continuity, compassion and community then you have found the perfect opportunity.
Main duties of the job
We are a well-established GP training practice and host doctors at all stages of their career and involve all our GPs in sharing their expertise with our trainees. There is protected learning time within the practice for team meetings and for whole practice training regularly. We particularly welcome applicants with an interest in pursuing a future role as a GP Trainer. Support for development and future accreditation can be provided.
We have been early adopters of several digital tech solutions including a document management system using AI which significantly reduces admin workload. We have been a Total Triage practice for over 2 years, and this has allowed us to more effectively use our appointment capacity. We have successfully introduced the use of an AI scribe tool for our consultations which is significantly reducing administrative workload and helping our Clinicians manage workload
Over the last few years our contribution to research has increased and we are proud to participate as a GP practice. All members of the team are encouraged to get involved in research and if this is of particular interest to you, we would be keen to develop your research skills!
About us
Were proud of our values and culture. If they resonate with you, we'd love to meet you.
Continuity of Care: We operate a usual GP list system with a balanced mix of pre-booked and same-day appointments, supported by protected admin time.
Right Care, Right Time, Right Place: Our Patient Coordinators ensure patients are guided to the most appropriate clinician.
Empowering Patients: We actively promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices across our community.
Listening to Patients: We maintain an active Patient Participation Group, gather regular feedback, and host Zoom health talks to improve outcomes such as vaccine uptake.
Continuous Learning: We support GP trainees, offer work experience placements, and encourage ongoing CPD.
Protected Time for Improvement: Fortnightly clinical teaching, quarterly team learning afternoons, and dedicated QI project time are embedded in our schedule.
Team Culture: Daily huddles, mentoring, informal coffee breaks, and social events (including a recent cricket day in Oxford) help build a strong, connected team.
Innovation & Digital Transformation: We are embracing AI-driven tools such as AI Scribe, Total Triage, and AI Reception to streamline workflows, reduce administrative burden, improve patient access, and enhance care quality.
Were also proud to be: RCGP Accredited Active Practice | Parkrun Practice | Greener Practice | LGBTQ+ Friendly | Veteran Friendly | Research Ready Practice

We are flexible on start dates and are focused on finding the right person who shares our values and commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
At Kingswood, we believe that delivering excellent patient care starts with supporting the wellbeing of our team.
Main duties of the job
We operate a total triage model. Previous experience of working in a total triage practice would be advantageous, but it is not essential as full support and induction will be provided. There is no traditional Duty GP role at this surgery. Triage GP is the on-call GP.

We are looking for a GP who is approachable, adaptable, and enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues to provide outstanding care for our patients while contributing to the continued success and development of the practice.
About us

We are an GMS, non-dispensing practice, operating a total triage model. We are a training practice, hence we promote teaching and education in our practice.
We do not have a home visiting for our clinicians, this service is provided by our strong PCN.
We are proud of the high standard of care we provide and are rated Good by the CQC. We consistently achieve excellent QOF outcomes and are committed to continuous quality improvement. We place a strong emphasis on supporting the development of our team, encouraging ongoing learning and providing opportunities for colleagues to expand their skills and progress in their careers.

This is an established permanent post, succeeding a departing colleague, with three important additional responsibilities: Deputy Safeguarding Lead, Abtrace Clinical Lead and GP Trainer/Clinical Educator.

- Deliver high-quality general medical services through face-to-face and telephone consultations, home visits and appropriate follow-up, including telephone triage and duty doctor work as required by the practice rota.
- Assess, investigate, diagnose and manage acute, chronic, complex and undifferentiated presentations, using sound clinical judgement and evidence-based guidance.

- Prescribe safely and cost-effectively, following local and national guidance and the practice formulary; review and authorise repeat prescriptions and undertake appropriate medicines management.
- Complete referrals, results, clinical correspondence and other administrative tasks accurately and promptly; maintain clear, contemporaneous clinical records using appropriate coding.

Deputy Safeguarding Lead
- Support the practice Safeguarding Lead in promoting a robust safeguarding culture for children and adults at risk across the Mid Devon surgeries.
- Provide accessible clinical advice to colleagues on safeguarding concerns, recognition of risk, escalation pathways, documentation and appropriate referrals, within your competence and practice policy.
- Contribute to safeguarding meetings, multidisciplinary discussions, information sharing and liaison with relevant partner agencies, maintaining confidentiality and accurate records.
- Help review and embed safeguarding policies, learning, training and improvements arising from cases, audits or significant events; deputise for the Safeguarding Lead when agreed and appropriate.
Abtrace Clinical Lead Implementation and Continued Roll-out
- Take clinical ownership of the ongoing implementation and roll-out of Abtrace across the practice, building on work already under way.
- Work with clinical, operational and administrative colleagues to integrate Abtrace into appropriate workflows and support proactive identification, review and follow-up of patients.
- Act as a point of contact for clinical questions, encourage adoption, support training and help colleagues use the system consistently and effectively.
- Review feedback and agreed measures of impact, identify opportunities to improve processes and support safe, appropriate use of patient information and clinical decision-support technology.
- Ensure that clinical decisions remain subject to professional judgement, established guidance, information governance and practice policies.
GP Trainer and Clinical Educator
- Contribute actively to our established training environment by supporting medical students, Foundation Year 2 (F2) doctors and GP registrars.
- Provide appropriate supervision, teaching, case discussion, feedback and pastoral support, helping learners develop confidence, clinical reasoning and safe working practices.
- Work with educational and clinical supervisors and the wider team to provide meaningful learning opportunities, contribute to assessments and training documentation where authorised, and promote a positive learning culture.
- Undertake any formal trainer or supervisor duties only where the relevant approval, accreditation and arrangements are in place.
Clinical Governance, Quality and Professional Standards
- Practise in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice, the practice's contractual obligations, relevant clinical guidelines, safeguarding procedures and local policies.
- Participate in clinical meetings, audit, quality improvement, significant-event reviews and learning from incidents or near misses; help translate learning into safer care.
