The main ENT Department is located in the West Wing at The John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. It provides emergency care and wide range of general and sub-specialty elective inpatient work for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire regions. Day surgery cases are treated in the West Wing, Churchill head and neck unit, The Horton, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and High Wycombe.
Main duties of the job
The department prides itself on being a regional tertiary referral Centre for head and neck oncology, skull base surgery and neurology, pediatrics ENT, specialist rhinology and otology including cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids. It is the hub of the Regional SpR Training Program. It is an extremely well supported department with ample opportunity for learning and development and successful applicants will join a well-respected and recognized department and team.
You will be expected to attend daily ward rounds, undertake ward work and participate in holding the on-call bleep. You will have the opportunity to sit in outpatient clinics and attend theatre to improve and develop knowledge and understanding. You will be expected to attend and contribute to monthly academic sessions, MDT and clinical governance. The specialist registrars are heavily involved in the management of the junior clinical staff and aim to support on-call duties and clinician development very closely.
The work of the Department is supported by a full range of support services including audiology, speech & language therapy, an aural care team, pre-clerking nurses, head & neck cancer nursing team, dieticians, pediatrics tracheotomy nurse specialists etc.

This is a joint appointment between the NHS Department of Clinical Biochemistry and the University Department, the Wolfson Centre forPrevention of Stroke and Dementia. The post holder will spend the equivalent of 2.5 days per week in each department.The NHS post will be a development role in which specialist testing (mainly mass spectrometry) will be implemented for service and researchprovision. Main duties of the job
o A Registered Clinical Scientist, responsible for helping the Consultant Clinical Biochemist and Consultant Chemical Pathologists provide a comprehensive scientific and clinical service in Clinical Biochemistry to the Trust, ICB and other service users.o To undertake research and development activities in line with the needs of the NHS Clinical Biochemistry department and theWolfson CPSD unit at Oxford University.o The post holder will be expected to pursue further higher professional qualifications (FRCPath)
o The post holder will be expected to participate in the Duty Biochemist rotao Process blood samples taken for research, maintaining documents and databases. Including cataloguing frozen samples.o Perform biomarker assays and DNA extraction from blood and subsequent PCR to genotype certain risk factors. Main responsibilities and other operational tasks:
- To act as a first point of contact for matters relating to administration for the medical team based at the OCE.
- To manage and maintain appointments diaries for all consultants and registrars within the OCE medical team electronically, updating their annual leave and updating their diaries accordingly for all outpatient clinics. Also, to ensure that all these changes are reflected and updated in EPR
- To support all room bookings requests as required for the medical team for clinics and any other clinical meetings.
- To answer telephone calls using the Liberty website-based phone system from medical and non-medical staff, and deal with calls appropriately, communicating important messages to the appropriate people in a timely manner. To ensure that messages are clear and well documented as applicable in EPR or to the relevant individual.
- To ensure that there is enough stock of clinical supplies for the outpatient clinics such as clinical forms, wristbands, ink cartridges, needles, stationary stock for office etc and to request further supplies in a timely manner with the line manager. To escalate any complaints received via face or non-face to face relating to clinics with the support of your line manager.
- To provide excellent customer care that demonstrates a caring and responsive approach. To be compassionate and empathetic to the variety of complex physical, emotional, and social needs of the patient group that are seen by the OCE.

Job summary
- To assist in the provision of a professional, comprehensive and effective administrative service to the Hepatology Secretariat.Work as part of a team to provide secretarial and clerical support for the unit as required.

Main duties of the job
1.Review and despatch of clinical, administrative and general correspondence by digital transcription.
