Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for the post of Associate Practitioner (Band 4) withinHistopathology at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories. This is a permanent role and is an opportunity for an existing member of staff in either LCL or LUHFT to obtain a set of highly technical laboratory skills, whilst contributing to cancer and other patient care.
This post is essential for the day to day running of the service and the successful candidate will receive the training necessary to work with other staff within the team to deliver the highest quality standard of patient care.
The directorate receives greater than 65,000 cases per year and is the largest provider of specialist Cellular Pathology services within Cheshire and Merseyside. The department consists of over 100 members of staff, including Medical Laboratory Assistants, Associate Practitioners, Biomedical Scientists, Consultant Pathologists, pathology trainees and administrative and managerial staff working together to deliver the specialist Cellular Pathology service at LCL for Cheshire and Merseyside
The department's operating hours are 07:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 16:00 Weekends and Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake all routine tasks within the Histology laboratory according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures and policies. These tasks include:
- Paraffin wax embedding
- Microtomy of all specimens
- Haematoxylin and Eosin, and special staining
- Freezing of human tissue for frozen sections, immunofluorescence and lipid stains
- Equipment maintenance
- Quality control procedures
- Preparation of staining solutions and reagents
- Safe disposal of a range of hazardous and non-hazardous laboratory waste

Patient Access Services at Broadgreen Hospital are looking to recruit 2 full time, fixed term Patient Access Clerks for our busy team.
1 of the posts will be primarily to support the outpatient administration team, working on the busy clinic reception areas, greeting patients, making appointments and supporting Trust colleagues in providing a robust and seamless service for our patients.

The post holder has responsibility to undertake the full range of duties commensurate with the role (booking/ reception / patient reminder/ general) and shall as necessary be flexible in providing cover for absent colleagues in order to maintain service provision.

Booking of appointments
Liaise with secretaries and admin departments regarding booking of appointments, referral letters etc.
Using the PAS system, in chronological order, invite patients and book appointments as appropriate.
Manage appointment slot issues in line with local/national standard operating procedures; refer to line manager any issues which jeopardise 18 week pathway.
To process and prioritise the scheduling of outpatient appointments due to clinical urgency and length of wait and in accordance with departmental procedures, protocols and Trust Policies.
Receive and process telephone calls from relatives/carers of patients informing the Trust of the patients death and amend PAS accordingly. This may require sensitive handling.
Telephone patients to negotiate convenient outpatient appointments or receive calls from patients/relevant others (e.g. Other Hospitals) regarding booking, changing or cancelling their appointments. This involves identifying the correct appointment, clinic, session and doctor code to which the caller is referring and rescheduling or cancelling the appointment as appropriate.
Inform the appropriate Consultant/ Directorate/secretarial staff of patients who have cancelled their appointment inappropriately e.g. urgent appointments.
Receive and process telephone calls from patients to update and amend their demographic details and make the necessary changes on the PAS system.
Contact GP Practices/other Hospitals for validation of patient demographic details and to obtain information if required e.g. copy letters, NHS Number etc.
In accordance with Trust procedures, open suspended clinics, add on patients and re-suspend clinic ensuring appropriate comments are recorded on PAS.
On the instruction and authorisation of the Consultant/Clinician, overbook clinics ensuring authority to do so is recorded on PAS.Working with guidance from clinical staff/secretaries, pro-actively fill cancelled appointment slots with patients to minimise the impact of non-attenders.
Offer patients a mutually convenient date and time for outpatient appointments on either a full or partial booking basis in accordance with local standard operating procedures.

Job summary
An exciting oppunrtunity has arisen to work within the Breast Screening Team based at Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. This role aims to support improved uptake rates to breast screening and reduce unwarranted variation in uptake by different population groups - to reduce health inequalities. The role will also be the first point of contact for GP practices and community groups, provide comprehensiveadvice and support for health care professionals and wider organisations to improve the uptake of breast screening.As an Improving Uptake Officer in breast screening, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service and supporting programme managers and screening staff across the breast screening programme.
Main duties of the job
- Liaise directly with healthcare colleagues in Primary Care (GP practices and PCN's), community groups and Place colleagues (ICB and local authority) to improve the uptake of breast screening particularly by population groups vulnerable to low participation in screening.
- Promote uptake of breast screening directly to the eligible population at health promotion events/webinars held across the programme geography.
- Support eligible individuals to navigate the screening pathway - particularly those who may require reasonable adjustments to address any barriers to access.
- Use screening programme data to identify GP practices with low uptake rates and work directly with colleagues in these practices, e.g. Care Coordinators and Care Navigators, to support more individuals to take up the offer of screening.
- Identify reasons for non-attendance across the screening programme and discuss with the programme team any changes that may help address these in order to support improved uptake rates.
- Maintain an up to date and accurate record of work undertaken to improve uptake.
- Be a member of the Improving Uptake in Screening Workers network to share learning/ideas and best practice across programmes.

Breast Screening Programme Specific Priorities Key priorities for the Improving Uptake Officer in breast screening include;
- Ensuring Prior Notification Lists (PNL) are returned to the breast screening programme prior to individuals being invited for screening.The PNL is a way practices can notify the breast screening programme of any individualswho may require reasonable adjustments to support them to access screening or who may need to be excluded from the programme. Examples of individuals who may need reasonable adjustments includes those who have: o a severe mental illnesso a learning disability o are transgendero require an Interpreter o had a bilateral mastectomyo a physical disability Working directly with PCNs/GP practices, the Improving Screening Uptake Officer will;
- Ensure the target for the return of the PNL from all GP practices is achieved (achievable target 90%; acceptable target 80%).
- Liaise with the ICB Place Leads and other colleagues to access support with achieving PNL targets.
- Supporting GP Practices to improve breast screening uptake targeting the practices with the lowest uptake rates:Reducing unwarranted variation in screening is key to reducing health inequalities. In advance of a mobile screening unit moving to a new location/a new screening round, the Improving Screening Uptake Officer will:
- Identify and contact at least the 10 lowest performing GP practices prior to a screening round.
- Liaise with colleagues at Place, Local Authority or practice level to identify ways to improve uptake e.g. by sharing resources and tools included in the Care Coordinator Screening toolkit (below) and providing support to GP practices/community champions to engage with specific target groups (e.g. nonresponders, first timers, specific population groups) by sharing relevant resources.
- Establish and agree a process to monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions.
- All individuals with a learning disability to receive a pre-appointment telephone call.
- All Individuals to be offered a reasonable adjustments plan and easy read materials.
- Monitor the number of individuals with a learning disability who take up the offer of screening.
- Develop an easy read patient satisfaction survey for individuals with a learning disability this can be done in collaboration with other C&M and L&SC ImprovingUptake Officers.
- Develop an Improving Uptake Plan that outlines key pieces of work to be undertaken over the following 6-12 months. An exciting oppunrtunity has arisen to work within the Breast Screening Team based at Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. Main duties of the job
- Liaise directly with healthcare colleagues in Primary Care (GP practices and PCN's), community groups and Place colleagues (ICB and local authority) to improve the uptake of breast screening particularly by population groups vulnerable to low participation in screening.
- Promote uptake of breast screening directly to the eligible population at health promotion events/webinars held across the programme geography.
- Support eligible individuals to navigate the screening pathway - particularly those who may require reasonable adjustments to address any barriers to access.
- Use screening programme data to identify GP practices with low uptake rates and work directly with colleagues in these practices, e.g. Care Coordinators and Care Navigators, to support more individuals to take up the offer of screening.
- Identify reasons for non-attendance across the screening programme and discuss with the programme team any changes that may help address these in order to support improved uptake rates.

Consultant Acute MedicinePermanent10 PA'sThis is an exciting opportunity to join a progressiveAcute Medicine Unitat Aintree University Hospital, part of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post supports the Trust's strong commitment to Acute Medicine and to delivering timely, consultant-led care during peak demand periods, ensuring rapid assessment, treatment and safe decision-making for acutely unwell medical patients.
The service includes a well-established Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) Unit, supporting same-day assessment, treatment and admission avoidance, alongside a rapid assessment, flow-focused Acute Medical Unit model delivered through regular board rounds and close multidisciplinary working. In February 2023, Acute Medicine relocated to a bespoke front-door facility co-located with the Emergency Department, strengthening integration and enabling earlier senior clinical decision-making.
The service currently provides consultant presence 12 hours per day, 7 days per week, delivered by Acute Medicine and Medical Division colleagues. With further substantive consultant appointments, this model will increasingly be delivered by the Acute Medicine Directorate, supported by inpatient specialty in-reach.
This post offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of a high-performing front-door Acute Medicine service, with a strong focus on quality, patient flow, innovation and multidisciplinary working.
Main duties of the job
- Provide timely senior clinical assessment and decision-making for acutely unwell medical patients at the hospital front door.
- Lead and supervise the acute medical take, ensuring safe, efficient triage, investigation and management, including admission avoidance and same-day discharge where appropriate.
- Deliver consultant-led care on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), including ongoing responsibility for patients until transfer to specialty care or discharge.
- Undertake consultant ward rounds and board rounds, working with nursing and operational teams to optimise flow and bed utilisation.

We are excited to announce that we are recruiting for permanent full-time Band 5 Radiographers within the plain film Radiology department based at theNew Royal Liverpool Hospital.

The cultural heritage of the city is well documented - but musically, theatrically and architecturally Liverpool is a "gem" of the north. There is an exciting mix of both modern and historic architecture which makes for a great living experience. There is a wide choice of accommodation within a 30 minute drive from the hospital.
Our service provides imaging for several speciality services including: Limb recon, Orthopaedic theatres, AED, Gastroenterology, Colorectal, HPB, Cardiology and more.
You will gain experience in all aspects of general Radiography and will be required to work on a rotational shift basis, which includes days, nights and weekends. We also provide rotation to our satellite sites based within the community centres and Liverpool Dental Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The Royal Liverpool University site consists of 2 Radiology departments, our A&E Department has 2 DR rooms and a DR OPG unit, providing cover for the Emergency department and surrounding wards. The Main x-ray department comprises of 3 DR rooms, 1 Fluoroscopy room and Theatre and mobiles, where you will provide outpatient and inpatient services, open access GP care and a wide variety of specialised and interesting theatre cases.You will also rotate through 4 Satellite Sites:1) Dental Hospital, where you will provide an array of assorted imaging including cone beam CT, Special care and children.
2) Broadgreen Hospital site covering a variety of diverse theatre services including limb reconstruction, Pain management, and also a variety of fluoroscopy procedures.
3&4) York Centre and South Liverpool Treatment Centre community sites
There is an expectation that you will be prepared to work flexibly to fit in with service needs this will include "on call", night shifts, evening shifts and weekend working.
All new staff are supported with a structured training and development programme supported by mentors which we run in conjunction with the Hospital preceptorship programme. We also have a dedicated team of reporting radiographers in plain film imaging and there is the opportunity to become part of the QA team, infection control and participate in clinical audits.

Job summary
As an associate Practitioner working in Point of Care Testing within LCL you will be required to work under the direction of HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. As part of this role you will be carrying out analytical procedure in clinical setting and maintaining POCT equipment. You will also support HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with training of staff ensuring that service user receive high level service and ensure that they are fully competent in the use of POCT devices. Along with supporting training you will also be responsible for carrying out competency checks on staff, ensuring that they using POCT devices correctly and safely. You will also be responsible for the following duties:
Completion of Quality Control, preventative maintenance, minor repair, undertake manual and semi-automated procedures. You will also be carrying out general duties both under the supervision from senior staff and without direct supervision.
A secondment role would also be considered for internal staff members.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that critical devices are maintained such has the blood gas analysers. You will be expected to maintain devices, carry out both simple and advance troubleshooting on devices; you will be responsible for contacting and following the instruction of the manufactories when unable to fix malfunctioning devices. You will also be responsible for organising and working with manufacturer engineers to ensure that devices are fixed in a timely fashion and that services only have minimal downtime.
The successful applicant will be expected to have excellent communication skills and time management skills. You will be required to communicate with variety of people such has doctors, nurses, Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Scientists and engineers. You will also be critical in ensuring that the services provided are compliant with governance in place, you will also be helping to support the department has it work towards obtaining UKAS accreditation.

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clerical Officer to join our administration team, here in the Endoscopy Department.
As a clerical officer, you main duty will be working on reception and the admitting and discharging of patients and answering any general queries they may have.
Other duties will include registering new patients on our Patient Administration System (IPM), preparing patient notes, answering telephone queries and deal efficiently and professionally to the requests of all service users and patient enquiries and provide a functional flexibility to meet the demands of the service.
Due to the nature of the work you will be IT literate, able to use most Office software and work unsupervised. Previous experience in the health sector would be an advantage and excellent customer service, the ability to work as part of a team and work to tight deadlines is essential.
You will be expected to be flexible and support the department as and when the need arises. This could include cross-site cover at our Broadgreen Diagnostic Hub (should the need dictate).
Main duties of the job
To admit and discharge all patients for the Endoscopy unit and provide the necessary administrative support to ensure that a highquality service is provided at all times, thereby affecting a smooth and efficient running of thedepartment.
To work unsupervised but to be available to give advice to junior members of the team.
