An opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic and empathic individuals to join our Customer Care Support Team an integral part of our Elective Care Hub. The role includes communication with patients and carers as well as developing analytical skills to help monitor our wait lists and contribute to ensuring the data we hold is accurate.
Main duties of the job
Our ambition to succeed with an elective recovery programme for our patients has now led to the development of the Customer Care Support Team which compliments our Elective Care Hub. The Customer Support Team provide a source of contact, reassurance and support to our patients and health care colleagues.

Job summary
The gynaecology team we have the exciting opportunity for a fulltime (10 PA) consultant post, within the gynaecology service at Gloucestershire Hospitals Trusts.
Any candidate who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full time will still be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content can be discussed on a personal basis. Job share applicants are also welcome.
The post-holder will help provide specialist gynaecology services, including cancer exclusion clinics. They will provide on call support overnight, and on weekends, together with appropriate teaching and supervision of junior doctors and medical students. You will be expected to work closely with general practitioners, gynaecology and oncology staff to provide a seamless service and deliver high quality surgical outcomes within national targets.

Our Women's & Children's Division
The Gynaecology Directorate is part of the Trust's Women and Children's Division. The Chief of Service for Women and Children's Services is Dr Simon Pirie, who also holds clinical commitments as a consultant in Neonatology. The Divisional Operations Director is Becky Hughes and the Divisional Nursing Director is Karen Pudge.
The Gynaecology service is based at Gloucester Royal Hospital and provides care for women from Gloucestershire. Operating lists are undertaken at both Cheltenham and Gloucester hospital with outpatient clinics being held in the Women's Centre at Gloucestershire Royal, Cheltenham Generaland surrounding community hospitals.

Registered General Nurse qualification, or Ophthalmic photographic experience or Degree in relevant subject and National Qualification in Diabetic Eye Screening
Detailed knowledge of all aspects of diabetic retinopathy disease, sufficient to enable post holder to make accurate diagnosis both of the presence of disease and the level.
Good all round knowledge of diabetes and associated risk factors.
Ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team both Trust-wide and nationally and with diabetic patients in a calm, sensitive, reassuring and persuasive way.
Enhanced levels of dexterity and accuracy pertaining to clinical skills including the use of diagnostic equipment i.e. fundus cameras and direct ophthalmoscopes in the direct examination of patients eyes.
Ability to work autonomously, efficiently and professionally in county-wide General Practice Surgeries.
Enhanced IT skills including experience of windows based software, capture and grading software for diagnostic purposes and Microsoft word.
An up to date knowledge and understanding of key professional developments and recommended good practice

Ability to respond flexibly, resourcefully and autonomously in emergencies, e.g. when equipment fails in outreach clinics whilst maintaining a calm environment for patients present.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Proven competence to work autonomously and effectively without access to supervision, in General Practice surgeries, requiring the ability to plan travel time appropriately and to plan and organise own clinic time, screening on average 24 patients per day under current workflows. To maintain a good throughput of patients in the event that workflow practices change. Capacity to work accurately whilst maintaining intense periods of concentration and competing claims on time. To be accountable and make clinical decisions involving patients within local guidelines, without direct supervision from medical staff.
Proven competence in digital retinal photography and effective use of a direct ophthalmoscope sufficiently confidently, to recognize and diagnose and refer to clinic, advanced cases of diabetic retinopathy that requires urgent treatment. Retinal photographs should be of sufficient quality to meet the National Quality Assurance Standard.
Competence to grade unsupervised, sustaining high levels of concentration over extended periods, to analyze and interpret diabetic retinopathy, accurately diagnosing small details of diabetic disease and other ocular lesions and ensuring timely referral to an ophthalmologist when appropriate, grading a minimum of 1000 patients image sets per annum as directed by National Screening Quality standards.
Responsibility for maintaining internal quality assurance processes for grading during primary diagnosis of disease/no disease. Responsibility for secondary level grade of image sets with disease, and unless there is discrepancy between graders, with no further referral to a medical clinician.
To remain calm and focused during screening clinics in particular during adverse conditions such as IT failure.
To communicate effectively with health professionals and frequently with patients, sometimes in distressing and sensitive circumstances, using empathy and reassurance in the management of information regarding diabetes management, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic eye disease and loss of sight.
To safely administer mydriatic eye drops within the Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guideline and following department Patient Specific Protocols.
Proven competence to deliver effective one-to-one patient education, using their retinal images as a teaching tool, in a motivating and persuasive manner so as to encourage effective diabetes management and reduction in the risks of diabetic eye damage whilst encouraging annual screening attendance.
Competence of accurate image and data handling, including image capture and retrieval, to ensure timely image grading and generation of results to GPs and referral to an Ophthalmologist for treatment as appropriate.
Carry out proficiently and safely the frequent movement of a digital fundus camera (87kgs) and equipment between county-wide surgeries, being aware of and acting in accordance with Trust manual handling protocols.
Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and maintain accurate patient records.
Competence to train new screener/graders in all aspects of the job, and to develop and maintain professional links with colleagues at all levels in both the primary and secondary care setting.

Main duties of the job
As a surgical secretary, you will provide a comprehensive secretarial service to our consultant surgeons. The ideal candidate needs to have a high level of attention to detail and be able to work well under time constraints to ensure that local and national targets are met with regards to patient pathways.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity will be available for an Apprentice Business Administrator in Oncology.
The Apprentice will support the work of the Gloucestershire Oncology Department at Cheltenham General Hospital.
The role supports the administration team to deliver excellent patient care for our service line.
The teams across the service line consist of Medical Secretaries, Booking Teams, Clerical Officers and Receptionists. The post-holder will report directly to the Lead Receptionist//Clerical Officer and Admin Manager in the Department.
The team provides a detailed and customer focused administrative service, with strong technical support across a variety of systems used tosupport administration processes at the Trust.
The Apprentice will be given training in all areas including IT systems and will having ongoing supervision and support in order to become an effective team member.
The Apprentice will spend time in each area of the department and service line, to gain a wide range of skill development and provide administration support.
The successful applicant will receive Induction and training appropriate to the activities he or she will undertake, and following this induction period will be enrolled to the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship with our Training Provider.
Main duties of the job
To undertake training as required and agreed with the mentor, supervisor and external assessor, and complete competencies relevant to the work area / department.
To support and gain experience within the following admin duties:
- Reception duties include meeting and greeting patients with a warm and welcoming attitude
- Registering new patients
- Data entry tasks
- Pulling and filing clinic notes
- Archiving hospital notes
- Taking / making telephone calls which will include dialogue with hospital colleagues and patients
- Accurate message taking and delivery to relevant personnel
- Prepping of on-line patient records
- Collecting and prepping of patient case-notes as required
- Producing clinic lists for clinicians
- Scanning of documents and on-line filing
- Processing incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Training in reception desk duties
- Audio typing of dictated letters and processing of actions within dictations
- Processing of voice recognition software for the purpose of clinic letters

Job summary
The post holder will provide a full and confidential administrative admission service to consultants and their teams for all of the Endoscopy departments at Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Assist with the Straight to Test bookings and cancer waiting list management.
Communication with patients, consultants, secretaries, relatives, general practitioners and other hospital staff is also essential to help ensure a proficient service for patients and clinicians. To assist with the training of new staff and provide cover for absence where necessary. To process data quality reports and ensure corrections are made as necessary.
Additional working pattern details: Mon - Friday 8am-4pm or 7.30am- 3.30pm
Main duties of the job
Converse with patients over the telephone providing sensitive information regarding their admission, preparation and resolving any queries which can on occasion involve dealing with people who have difficulty in understanding a situation or who may be aggressive or upset requiring sensitivity and use of initiative. Manage own workload to ensure all tasks are completed within a timely manner, together with working as part of the clerical team on a day to day basis.
