Job summary
he role of the General Practice Assistant (GPA) is to support the GP Surgery with routine administration tasks working as a personal assistant to the GPs and basic healthcare assistant clinical duties. The GPA will be required to complete a six-to-nine-month practice course, delivered in practice by a named GP mentor. We would like some already finished this course.
The framework covers five domains (two clinical and three non-clinical).

Main duties of the job
Sorting all clinical post and prioritising it
Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding
Dealing with all routine clinical post directly e.g. did not attend (DNA) letters, two week wait referrals (2WW) etc.
Arranging appointments, referrals and follow up appointments of patients
Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs and phlebotomy
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms for the GP to approve and sign including, but not limited to, insurance, mortgage and Department for Work and Pensions forms (IB113, HAAS etc)
Explaining treatment procedures to patients including arranging follow up appointments
Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies i.e. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s)
Support the GP with immunisations and wound care
Sterilising equipment
Restocking consulting rooms
Take blood samples
Lead on health promotion and education work
About us
Crompton Medical Centre is single handed surgery located in Edgware road and little vience/Maida Vale caring 3588 patients.
The surgery is a focal point for the local community and was rated as good in out recent CQC inspection.

Job summary
Are you a newly qualified GP (within the last two years, without a substantive post) looking for an exciting and supportive role to launch your career? Crompton Medical Centre are seeking enthusiastic, forward-thinking GPs to join our team on a fixed-term salaried contract for 12 months.Although the post is 12 months fixed term the PCN will review this when further clarity is available from NHS England on funding.
Following the release of ARRS GP information and funding we are looking for newly qualified (within 2 yrs and not having had a substantive post), enthusiastic, forward-thinking GP to join The Colne Practice on a fixed term salaried contact until 31st March 2026. We require 6 sessions per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday or flexible with days).
Once further guidance on the role is published from NHSE there maybe the opportunity for the contract to be extended.
Contract will be based on the BMA contract with 6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata). One week study leave (pro rata).
Main duties of the job
- The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced Services.
- Share of routine and urgent appointments both face to face and telephone.
- Prescribe as per local & national guidelines.
- Share of home visits routine and emergency.
- Time-manage completion of administration: letters, results, tasks, referrals, telephone calls, emails.
- Take responsibility for appropriate referrals (following local guidance and good medical practice) and administration pertaining to them.
- Checking and signing share of repeat prescriptions.
- Cover for colleagues in exceptional circumstances such as sudden illness, taking into account the individual doctors external commitments such as childcare.
- On call sessions pro rata.

We are looking for a motivated, caring GP to join our friendly, hardworking team consisting of 1 partners, 2 salaried GPs, 1 PCN clinical pharmacists, physiotherapist and excellent support from nursing and admin teams.
Furthermore, our practice offers an in-house Joint Injection service. The GP leading this service is enthusiastic about supporting training opportunities and would be happy to provide supervision if this area aligns with the new colleague's professional interests.
