Job responsibilities

Core responsibilities of the Salaried GP may include, on occasion, additional duties dependent upon workload and staffing requirements:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and associated clinical administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertaking telephone triage and duty doctor responsibilities

g. Maintaining accurate clinical records in line with policy, guidance and good clinical practice

h. Working collaboratively and contributing fairly to the practice workload

i. Adhering to best practice guidance and participating in audit and quality improvement processes

j. Contributing to continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

k. Attending and contributing effectively to practice meetings as required

l. Supporting the development and maintenance of the practice, including clinical governance and training

m. Ensuring compliance with appraisal and revalidation requirements

n. Supporting continued professional development across the wider practice team

o. Supporting the training of medical students and other learners where appropriate

p. Supporting the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice

q. Reviewing and adhering to practice protocols and policies

r. Promoting collaborative working and a culture of continuous improvement

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified GP
• MRCGP
• Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent
• JCPTGP
• General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working in a primary care environment
• Commitment to continued professional development
• General understanding of the primary care contract

Desirable

• Experience of clinical audit and quality improvement activities

Eligibility

Essential

• Full GMC registration
• National Performers List registration England
• Appropriate medical defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
• Evidence of current validation
• Evidence of last appraisal
• Eligibility to practise independently in the UK
