Applications are invited for the role of Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our friendly and dynamic Emergency Department at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will join a team of 30 other Emergency Medicine Consultants.
We are looking for experienced, motivated individual who have worked at a senior level, to provide leadership within our busy department.
The department has ambitious plans for improvement. Therefore as well as providing clinical expertise to enable the best possible care, it is important that you can lead service development and provide quality professional advice, contributing to all the areas that produce an outstanding working environment and patient experience.
Applications should contain details of GMC registration and CCT (or evidence of eligibility to apply for CCT) along with names and addresses of three referees (one of which should be your current or most recent employer), please note,
- If you are currently a substantive consultant, we would require one of your referees to be either the Medical Director or Chief Executive,

Job responsibilities
The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge. The Consultant will be responsible in conjunction with colleagues for planning future developments of these services.
Supervision of and assistance to junior and middle grade medical staff, ACPs and Emergency Nurse Practitioners
To act as Team Leader in the resuscitation of seriously traumatised patients and those with critical illness.
Together with colleagues provide a daily Consultant presence
Participate in the senior doctor rota performing clinical duties and acting as Lead Consultant
Assist in the smooth integration of the Emergency Department and Urgent Care services.
The post holders will be expected to provide a comprehensive clinical service to consultant colleagues in clinical disciplines in the hospital and to general practitioners in Bradford. Administrative duties the post holder will always have continued responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and for contributing to the smooth running of the service. The post holders will also be expected to share the administrative duties with the other consultants including attendance at Care Group and Departmental meetings, etc.
The post holder will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior staff to ensure standards of care are maintained. Development of individuals and of teams is part of the consultant role.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the postgraduate teaching of medical staff and undergraduates attached to the Trust and in the training of all grades of staff.
CPD - the post holder is responsible for ensuring that they meet the College requirements for CPD.
It is expected that the appointees will actively and regularly participate in Clinical Audit. Evaluation of the departments performance against agreed measures will take place.
The post holder will be expected to participate in clinical governance arrangements in line with national and local guidelines and in respect of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Trust in accordance with current best practice.
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all patients presenting to the Emergency Department

The Radiology & Imaging admin team work within the trust across 3 sites - BRI (Including Maternity and Medical Physics receptions), St Luke's Hospital and Eccleshill CDC.
The job holder will provide telephone and administrative support across the service. This includes dealing with telephone queries, post, printing referrals and appointment letters, arranging interpreters, cancelling or rescheduling appointments and updating patient information on the Trust's Electronic Patient Record system and Radiology system.
Main duties of the job
The Apprentice will be undertaking a training programme within the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Training will be delivered through education sessions and time spent completing administration duties under supervision to complete the required qualification. The Apprentice will commit to undertake the training and educations required for the role, and successfully complete all components of the training programme within the contract period. This will include completion of Diploma Level 2 Administration Assistant.
Working under supervision; The Apprentice will carry out a variety of Administration & Clerical work in a Clinical or Non-Clinical area, with the possibility of some direct (supervised) or indirect patient contact, depending on allocated area of work. Dealing with telephone calls, e-mails and face to face contact with Trust Staff and members of the public, ensuring enquiries are dealt with in an efficient, polite and courteous manner.

The post-holder will provide effective reception, administrative and clerical support duties across the directorate, on a regular rotational basis, between BRI main x-ray department (and including Maternity and Medical Physics) St. Luke's main x-ray department and Eccleshill Community Diagnostic Centre.
