An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and inspirational clinical pharmacist to join our Mental Health Pharmacy Team at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen.
Are you a passionate and forward-thinking pharmacist looking to make a meaningful difference in mental health care? Join our friendly, innovative, and supportive Mental Health Pharmacy Team at Hywel Dda University Health Board.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated pharmacist to become part of our expanding service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of mental health specialties, including adult acute wards, older adult wards, psychiatric intensive care unit, and low secure unit.
You will also have the opportunity to work closely with Community Mental Health Teams, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to support patient-centred care across a variety of settings.
Previous mental health experience is not essential, and all applicants are welcome to apply. Successful candidates will be supported to develop their specialist knowledge and skills, including the opportunity to complete the nationally recognised Aston University Psychiatric Therapeutics Certificate.
Main duties of the job
The post is based at Glangwili Hospital, although pharmacy services are provided across the Health Board. As such, some travel between sites will be required to support services across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion. We offer flexibility regarding the areas you will cover.
If you are keen to develop your clinical skills, work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, and contribute to improving the lives of people experiencing mental illness, we would love to hear from you.
The post holders will contribute to the planning and delivery of the medicines optimisation strategy.
We encourage potential applicants to contact us to discuss the post further.

Job summary
4 to 8 sessions per week, New Post, Friday working essential
We cannot promise quiet days in general practice. We can promise that you will not face the busy ones alone.
If you would like to work in a friendly rural practice where colleagues know one another, share the workload and step in when someone needs a hand, we would like to hear from you.
The Cornerstone Practice is looking for a salaried GP to work between 4 and 8 sessions per week. Friday working is essential, but we are open to discussing how the remaining sessions are arranged.
The salary is £12,000 per session per annum, based on the number of contracted sessions worked each week:
We look after approximately 9,500 patients and use SystmOne. Our clinical team includes GP partners, salaried GPs, advanced practitioners, treatment room nurses, healthcare assistants and a mental health practitioner. We also work with pharmacy, physiotherapy and social prescribing colleagues, supported by an experienced reception and administration team.
We are based in March, a Fenland market town with direct rail services to Ely, Cambridge and Peterborough.
An immediate start is available, but we are happy to wait for the right person.
You are welcome to visit us, meet the team and see how the practice works before deciding whether to apply. For an informal conversation or to arrange a visit, please contact Dr Laura Richardson, email address [email protected]
Main duties of the job
You will provide general medical services to registered and temporary patients as part of the practice clinical team.
Your working week will include a mixture of:
Face-to-face and telephone consultations
Assessing new, ongoing and undiagnosed health problems
Reviewing test results and clinical correspondence
Prescribing and medication reviews
Referring patients to other services when needed
Home visits where clinically appropriate
Maintaining clear and timely patient records
Taking part in clinical meetings and practice learning
Sharing duty and clinical cover fairly with GP colleagues
Contributing to audit, service improvement and patient safety work
There may be scope to develop a particular clinical interest, depending on the needs of the practice and your experience.
About us
The Cornerstone Practice is based in the centre of March and looks after approximately 9,500 patients. We use SystmOne.
Our team includes GP partners, salaried GPs, advanced practitioners, treatment room nurses, healthcare assistants, a mental health practitioner and an experienced reception and administration team.
We also work with pharmacy, physiotherapy and social prescribing colleagues.
We want this to be a practice where people can ask for help, speak honestly and have a life outside work. We cannot promise quiet days in general practice, but we can promise colleagues who understand the pressures and support one another through them.
