Abbey Medical Practice is seeking a motivated and organised Administrator to join our busy practice team. Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm (37.5 hours a week). This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong administrative skills who enjoys working in a healthcare environment and making a positive difference to patient care.
The successful candidate will provide essential administrative support across referral management, clinical coding and patient registrations, ensuring accurate patient records and efficient practice processes.
Main duties of the job
Referrals:
Process referrals generated by clinicians using NHS referral system.
Submit and track referrals to hospitals, community services and diagnostic providers.
Liaise with patients and secondary care providers regarding referral queries.
Monitor referral tasks and ensure referrals are processed within required timescales.
Clinical coding:
Review and code clinical correspondence, hospital letters and reports within SystmOne.
Extract relevant diagnoses, procedures and clinical information from correspondence.
New Patient Registrations:
Process new patient registrations and deductions.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will contribute to the service in ensuring service users consistently receive high quality services that adhere to the best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards. They will be required to actively contribute to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved.
They will be required to record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.

Role-specific responsibilities
This post-holder will be responsible to the Clinical Lead /Consultant Psychiatrist or Regional Lead Consultant in fulfilling the following duties:
Good medical care
- To provide a clinical assessment, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation, of a wide range of substance misusers presenting to the service.
- In conjunction with other members of the Multidisciplinary Team to plan and deliver appropriate individually tailored treatment plans.
- To regularly review and monitor patients treatment progress (including results of urinalysis and other laboratory investigations).
- To keep accurate appropriate and up-to-date medical and administrative documentation including computer records. These should be entered on the same day or as soon as possible after the clinical consultation.
- To liaise closely with other relevant professionals and organisations including non-statutory addiction services, adult psychiatric services, general practitioners, medical colleagues, Social Services and Prison Services.

Job summary
We are looking for a Locum Doctor (Consultant in General Psychiatry) to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Leeming DCMH, in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
This is a locum role (40 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.
Pay rates:
PAYE £72.58 per hour
Self-employed £83.47 per hour
Job Description:
- To undertake clinical sessions (remote and face to face) for the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH), carrying out fresh case assessments and reviews of all service personnel referred to the DCMH. This will include liaison with referrers and line management as required to facilitate the clinical and occupational management of the patient.
- To provide clear occupational recommendations to the referrer and/or Medical Centre based on MOD and single Service policy.
- To supervise the clinical activity of other mental health professionals.
- To liaise and engage with MOD contracted (or other NHS and non-NHS providers as necessary) in-patient service providers to enable discharge planning for Service and other entitled personnel who have been admitted to hospital
Main duties of the job
Essential requirements/ Qualifications/ Experience:
- Must be on the GMC Specialist Register for General Psychiatry and/or Forensic Psychiatry.
- Must be approved under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 or be an Approved Medical Practitioner under Section 22 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.
- Must have a current, satisfactory in date annual appraisal in line with the requirements of the General Medical Councils (GMCs) Good Medical Practice (GMP).
- Must have completed sufficient Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidance on CPD.
- Must hold current, valid personal medical indemnity insurance.
- Must hold a full Driving Licence valid in the UK (in order to be able to conduct peripatetic clinics and assess personnel sick at home in exceptional circumstances).
- Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
