The main responsibilities of the General Practice Assistant role will include:

Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments for patients

Preparing patients before seeing the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.

Dipping urine and taking blood pressure, ECGs and phlebotomy. Enhanced training can be provided for the right applicant and we would train them to also administer patient injections under PSD's.

Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign e.g mortgage or insurance forms

Explaining treatment procedures to patients, including arranging follow up appointments if required.

Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies, e.g., getting an on-call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s).

Job Purpose

To support the Federations Quality and Governance Manager and wider Federation with Finance and HR support.

1. To manage the shared inbox for the Federation, ensuring all emails are allocated to the correct member of the team.

2. To maintain systems for receiving, checking and logging invoices and payments to ensure our Accountants and Finance Officer have all the relevant information.

3. Education and Qualifications

Essential

• Good General Education including English and Maths GSCE at Grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2.
• Good Command of English Language
• NVQ Level 3 Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography support or equivalent experience
• Evidence of willingness to undertake further training and development relevant to the role.

Desirable

• Trained in cannulation
• Trained in venepuncture
• Care Certificate completed
• Additional healthcare support worker training relevant to diagnostic services.

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working within a healthcare, care or patient-facing environment.
• Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience of providing direct support to patients.
• Experience of working with members of the public.

Desirable

• Experience working within a Radiology, Imaging or Outpatient setting.
