Are you looking for a new challenge or to take the next step in your perioperative career? Within our 14 theatres at Basildon & Orsett Hospitals, we deliver a wide range of surgical specialities including Upper and Lower GI, Vascular, Urology, Gynaecology, Breast, Obstetrics, Maxillofacial, ENT, Trauma and Emergency, Orthopaedics, Head and Neck, Pain Management Surgery, and Elective and Emergency C-sections.

We are looking for enthusiastic Staff Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) who bring strong clinical knowledge, established theatre skills, or a real desire to develop into a Theatre Practitioner role.

Ideally, you will already have theatre experience and be confident in delivering high-quality care within the perioperative setting. However, we also welcome applications from newly registered practitioners or those seeking an exciting new career direction. Teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to safe, patient-centred care are essential for this role. In return, you'll join a motivated and friendly multidisciplinary team in a dynamic environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn.

If you're passionate about making a difference and ready to grow your theatre career, we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

If successful you will be fully supported on our development programme until you are able to undertake the full range of duties, which include:

Ensuring all patients receive the highest possible standard of care, supported by evidence-based practice.

Taking part in cross-site rotation to meet the needs of the service on 24-hour basis.

Taking charge of a clinical area on a regular basis following successful completion of a development programme.

Working within the multi-disciplinary team ensuring good professional relationships.

About us

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
