Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team at The Beeches Medical Practice in Shrewsbury from 1st April 2027. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed General Practitioner to work 8 sessions a week. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to the ongoing development of our progressive training practice.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to our local population.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional, and compassionate GP to contribute to the ongoing success of our practice.
The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner, providing comprehensive medical services to our registered patient population while delivering the highest standards of clinical care. The post holder will:
- Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based clinical care.
- Adhere to GMC standards of Good Medical Practice.
- Contribute to the effective management and development of the practice.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.
- Support a positive, inclusive, and patient-focused culture.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development activities as appropriate.

The Beeches Medical Practice is a welcoming and forward-thinking four-partner training practice serving approximately 7,200 patients across Shrewsbury and the surrounding rural communities. We operate from two well-established sites in Bayston Hill and Dorrington.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a General Practitioner working within primary care. In accordance with the practice timetable and service requirements, the successful candidate will:
- Conduct face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations and triage appointments.
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions.
- Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate.
- Review, authorise and sign repeat prescriptions in line with practice and prescribing guidelines.
- Process clinical correspondence and documentation in a timely manner.
- Make professional and autonomous clinical decisions in relation to patient care.
- Assess patients' healthcare needs and develop individualised management plans in partnership with patients.
- Deliver health promotion, preventative care, health education and lifestyle advice.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with professional and practice standards.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement activities and achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) objectives.
