Main duties of the job
The General Practitioner will work as an autonomous medical practitioner within the multidisciplinary Practice team, providing high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centred general medical services.
The post holder will assess, diagnose, investigate, treat, refer and provide continuing care to patients with a wide range of acute, chronic, preventative, psychological and social healthcare needs.
As a GP within a training practice, the post holder will also contribute to the Practice's educational and developmental culture. This includes supporting learners and colleagues, sharing knowledge, participating in case discussion and debrief, and helping allied health professionals and other members of the team to work safely within their scope of practice.
About us
Billinge Medical Practice is committed to providing safe, high-quality, personalised primary care and to placing patients at the centre of decisions about their care.
We are a GP training practice and a learning organisation. Education, supervision, reflective practice and shared learning are important parts of how we work. We want clinicians to feel able to ask questions, discuss uncertainty, raise concerns, learn from incidents and support one another to deliver consistently safe care.
Modern general practice depends on a broad multidisciplinary workforce. GPs are expected to work constructively with nursing teams, pharmacists, advanced practitioners, paramedics, physiotherapists, mental health practitioners, nursing associates, healthcare assistants, social prescribers, care coordinators and other allied health and wider neighbourhood professionals.
Teamworking does not dilute individual professional accountability. Each clinician remains responsible for working within their competence and professional standards, while contributing to clear communication, appropriate escalation, effective handover and safe shared care.
