Shape the future of General Practice in Nottingham
Nottingham City General Practice Alliance (NCGPA) is seeking an exceptional clinical leader to become our next Medical Director. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of General Practice across Nottingham, providing strategic medical leadership for our practice provision, citywide services, research, workforce and quality improvement programmes. The role builds on an established Medical Directorate with responsibilities across clinical governance, patient safety, research, education, service development and system leadership.
This is a pivotal moment to join us. General Practice is moving into neighbourhood health, and NCGPA is at the centre of that change in Nottingham City, one of the first-wave sites of the National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme. Our next Medical Director will help get NCGPA ready for that change, support our membership through it, and build a clinical culture that serves Nottingham's diverse communities well.
As Medical Director, you will be the principal clinical adviser to the Board, providing visible leadership and assurance across NCGPA services. You will work closely with Clinical Leads, senior managers, General Practices, Primary Care Networks and wider NHS partners to ensure services are safe, effective, innovative and sustainable. You will also be an ambassador for clinical care in Nottingham General Practice, for our membership as well as our own services.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic clinical leadership to NCGPA and advise the Board on clinical matters.
- Lead clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement and clinical assurance.
- Support and develop Clinical Leads and the wider multidisciplinary workforce.
- Provide medical oversight of NCGPA practice provision and citywide services.
- Lead the development of research, innovation, teaching and training across the organisation.
- Represent NCGPA within local, regional and system partnerships.
- Help get NCGPA and our membership ready for neighbourhood health, contributing to the evolving models so that General Practice remains at the heart of care.
- Promote a culture of learning, continuous improvement and professional excellence.
- Build a clinical culture of transformation, learning, development, innovation, curiosity, listening and inclusion, so that we can serve Nottingham's diverse population well.
