Job summary

We are looking for an organised, bright and proactive clinical administrator to join our GP surgery for 15-20hpw. This is not a patient-facing role.

You must be accurate and detail-focused, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Strong IT skills are essential, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a busy and supportive team.

The successful candidate will undertake a variety of clinical administration duties including correspondence management, coding, summarising and recalls; ensuring workloads are managed effectively and practice procedures are followed consistently.

As part of a small team, you must be reliable with a can-do attitude.

This role is part-time, with working days and hours negotiable for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

Clinical coding - Process incoming clinical correspondence and accurately assign appropriate clinical codes into the patient record using SystmOne, in line with national standards and practice protocols, ensuring information is handled accurately and directed appropriately.

Records summarising - Summarise patient medical records to ensure information is accurately recorded in SystmOne in line with practice procedures.

Clinical recall - Assist with the call/recall of patients with long-term conditions with regard for both clinical and QOF requirements.

Process tasks and other electronic communications, ensuring appropriate action is taken within required timescales.

Monitor relevant inboxes and ensure correspondence is processed, distributed or actioned appropriately.

Work closely with colleagues to support effective clinical and administrative workflows.

Liaise with hospitals, community services and other healthcare providers regarding patient correspondence where required.

Work in accordance with practice policies and procedures.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and patient services.

Provide cover and support across the admin team during periods of annual leave, sickness or increased workload to maintain continuity of service.

Attend and participate in relevant practice meetings, training and development activities.

Undertake any other appropriate administrative duties consistent with the nature and responsibilities of the role.
