Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Craftsperson (Plumber) to join our Estates Department at Nevill Hall Hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of a busy acute healthcare environment, helping to ensure that essential services and infrastructure remain safe, reliable, and fully operational for patients, visitors, and staff.
As part of our Estates Team, you will play a vital role in supporting frontline clinical services by helping maintain the facilities and infrastructure that healthcare professionals rely upon every day. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to applyMain duties of the job
As a Mechanical Craftsperson (Plumber), you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across the hospital estate.
Working as part of a professional Estates team, you will support the ongoing operation of critical building and engineering services.
Your duties will include:
- Maintenance, fault finding and repair of plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
- Reactive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Inspection and testing of mechanical services and equipment.
- Supporting compliance with statutory regulations and Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) requirements.
- Contributing to the safe and efficient operation of healthcare facilities.

- Completed an accredited Mechanical apprenticeship training course to a minimum level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent plus relevant training or equivalent experience, plus additional training and developed skills e.g. air conditioning
- High level of knowledge and understanding of electrical/mechanical services/systems and a working knowledge of other associated trades. Familiarity with approved guidance documents
Desirable
- Evidence of significant CPD
- JIB Registration
- Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda
- General awareness of other engineering maintenance related statutory legislation.
