Job summary

We are looking to recruit a part-time Receptionist to join our friendly GP practice team. Applicants should have GP receptionist experience and knowledge of SystmOne.

GP receptionists receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. We are looking for a candidate who can be flexible within the role, adapt to the daily needs of the practice, and support annual leave cover and absences when required.

Main duties of the job

Managing a high volume of phone calls from patients and healthcare professionals

Greeting, checking in and booking appointments for patients at the front desk

Dealing with day to day administration tasks including processing referrals, online patient requests and other documents

Dealing with repeat prescription requests

Responding efficiently and with respect and empathy to patient enquiries in person, by telephone and online

Advising patients of relevant charges for non NHS services, accepting payment and issuing receipts

Remaining patient and calm in often stressful situations

Scanning, filing and photocopying documents

Providing clerical support to GPs and the wider healthcare team

Understanding and disseminating wider NHS policies to patients when requested

Undertaking any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the management team

Supporting the practice team with patient wellbeing events, such as patient coffee mornings
